
Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Delegates Conclude Official Visit to Rasuwa Degayling Settlement in Nepal


Members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Lopon Thupten Gyaltsen and Lhagyari Namgyal Dolkar, completed a two-day official visit to the Rasuwa Degayling Tibetan settlement Last week. The tour was part of the Parliament’s outreach program to engage with Tibetan communities in exile.
The MPs met with Tibetan residents in Rasuwa Degayling, Sertang near the border with Kyirong in Tibet, and Thangmoche, where they listened to community concerns, discussed local issues, and conducted on-site inspections. Their visit followed a prior tour of the Sharchum Delekling settlement.
Upon arriving in Sertang on May 12 at around 3:00 p.m., the parliamentarians were received by the regional coordinator and local residents. During a community meeting, they collected feedback on livelihood struggles, documentation challenges, and day-to-day hardships. The MPs responded to questions from the attendees and provided clarifications and suggestions.
Later that evening, the delegation traveled to Thangmoche, where they were warmly welcomed. There, they held further discussions with local residents and assessed difficulties faced by the Tibetan population. They pledged to coordinate with the Office of the Representative of Nepal to initiate necessary infrastructure development. The visit included an inspection of the settlement’s land and housing facilities.
On May 13, the delegation reached the Sharub area within the Rasuwa Degayling settlement. They met with elder Passang Norbu and surveyed the local conditions. A subsequent meeting was held with the settlement coordinator and members of the Regional Tibetan Freedom Movement. The MPs addressed their questions and offered guidance, particularly emphasizing the responsible management and protection of settlement assets.
This concluded their official visit to the Rasuwa region. They were accompanied throughout the tour by Tsepri Lopan Tulku Ngawang Chokdup, the Representative of Nepal, and Dorje Tsewang, the accountant of Sha-Wa-Ra.
