Top leaders of ruling alliance meeting at 3pm today

A meeting of the five-party ruling alliance is convening at 3 pm today to deliberate on the overall situation following the elections to the Member of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly.

The meeting, taking place at the Prime Minister’s residence at Baluwatar, will make an assessment of the election results as well as discuss other contemporary topics, CPN (Unified Socialist)’s general-secretary Beduram Bhusal said.

It is said that discussions will be held in the meeting on the formation of a new government as well. The five-party coalition comprises of the Nepali Congress, the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), the Lokatantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal, and the Rastriya Janamorcha.

The Nepali Congress has won 57 seats and the Maoist Centre 18 under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system in the election to the House of Representatives and Province Assembly elections held on November 20.

Similarly, the Unified Socialist has won 10 seats, the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party four, and the Rastriya Janamorcha one seat in the election.

The top leaders of the Nepali Congress, the Maoist Centre, and the Unified Socialist have said before this that the new government would be formed under the leadership of the present ruling alliance itself and they have held several rounds of discussions to that end.
