Tourism Decade 2025-2035 in the Pipeline, Says Minister Pandey

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, announced that preparations are underway to designate 2025 to 2035 as the Tourism Decade in Nepal.
Speaking at a meeting of the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee of the National Assembly on Tuesday, Minister Pandey highlighted ongoing efforts to secure state investment and potential foreign assistance for this ambitious tourism promotion initiative. He emphasized the importance of financial preparedness to ensure the success of the decade-long campaign.
On addressing broader issues within the cultural, tourism, and aviation sectors, Minister Pandey stated that priorities are being set based on immediate needs. “Requests for assistance related to stupas, temples, and mosques are treated as priorities. We assess contributions from federal, provincial, and local governments and proceed accordingly,” he explained.
Regarding airport management and infrastructure, the Minister shared that feasibility studies are being conducted to evaluate the construction, protection, repair, and maintenance needs of operational airports. “Our goal is to improve all operational airports and achieve excellence across all aspects,” he added.
Additionally, Minister Pandey revealed a recent policy decision mandating that all government-related printing work be conducted by the press located at the Nepal Academy.
The proposed Tourism Decade is seen as a significant step toward revitalizing Nepal’s tourism sector, fostering cultural preservation, and enhancing the country’s global appeal as a travel destination.
