Turkish Airlines Aircraft Overshoots Landing at Tribhuvan International Airport
An aircraft belonging to Turkish Airlines from Istanbul overshot its landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu this morning. Scheduled to land at 6:10 am, the plane eventually touched down 20 minutes later, according to flight radar data.
The airport office attributed the incident to a ‘missed approach.’ An air traffic controller (ATC) explained that the aircraft encountered an ‘unstable approach,’ leading to the overshoot. Fortunately, the aircraft landed safely after the delay.
No injuries or damages were reported, and airport operations have since returned to normal. The airport authorities are investigating the incident to understand the factors contributing to the unstable approach and ensure such occurrences are minimized in the future.
