UML Celebrates Success of ‘Resolution March for Prosperity’ in Mid-Hills
In a press conference held today at the party’s central office in Chyasal, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) celebrated the achievements of its ‘Resolution March for Prosperity,’ centered on the Mid-hills (Pushpalal) highway. The march, which commenced from Jhulaghat in Baitadi district on November 30, concluded successfully upon reaching Chiwa Bhanjyang of Panchthar on December 17.
During the press conference, UML Chair KP Sharma Oli highlighted the significant milestones achieved by the ‘resolution march,’ emphasizing its impact on linking development, prosperity, and nationality. Chair Oli described the march as unprecedented and unforgettable, expressing gratitude for the enthusiasm it generated among party members, workers, and the local population.
The campaign focused on fostering a connection between local and national interests, as evidenced by public assemblies, meetings, and discussions with college and school students. The spirit and message of ‘Relation Local, Message National’ resonated throughout the march, contributing to its success.
In addition to public engagements, the UML highlighted various campaign activities, including interactions with local farmers, dialogues with agriculture scientists, observations of developmental works, and meetings with entrepreneurs involved in model projects. The campaign also featured visits to historical, religious, and cultural sites, with an emphasis on collecting people’s experiences, grievances, and feedback.
UML General-Secretary Shankar Pokhrel underscored the campaign’s role in identifying and addressing the growing outmigration from the hills. The party also used the march as a platform to promote social harmony, national unity, and to gain a deeper understanding of the economic, social, cultural, and religious conditions, as well as the industrial and tourism potentials of the mid-hilly region.
The ‘Resolution March for Prosperity’ saw the active participation of the party’s top leadership, central office-bearers, standing committee, politburo, central members, and technical teams. As the CPN (UML) celebrates the success of the march, Chair Oli urged the government to prioritize the development and prosperity of the mid-hilly region based on the insights gained during the campaign.
