UML in front for women’s empowerment: Chair Oli
CPN (UML) Chairperson KP Sharma Oli delivered a keynote address at an event organized by Motidevi Memorial Centre on the occasion of the 114th International Women’s Day. Chair Oli reiterated his party’s commitment to leading the charge for women’s empowerment and awareness.
During his speech, Chair Oli highlighted his party’s dedication to social transformation, women’s awareness, and social justice. He emphasized the importance of achieving 40 percent women representation among all people’s representatives in all three levels of government, as well as securing 33 percent reservation for women in state bodies.
As part of the event, former Prime Minister Oli unveiled ‘Sangharshshil Youddhaharu’ and honored several individuals for their outstanding contributions to various fields, including social activism, research, and the communist movement. Among the honorees were inspiring figures such as Dhammawati Guruma, Rojita Buddhacharya, Binita Bhandari, Sabitri Thapa, Shanti Chadda, Sona Chhedung Lama, Renuka Thapa, Tulsi Shahi, Soniya Sadaya, and Charimaya Thamang, recognized for their significant roles in their respective domains.
Centre Chairperson Asta Laxmi Shakya expressed that the Centre would continue to honor women who contribute to social transformation and women’s awareness in the future.
Motidevi Memorial Centre, established in memory of Moti Devi Shrestha, one of the founders of the Communist Party of Nepal, serves as a platform to commemorate the contributions of individuals to the Nepali society and the communist movement.
