UML leader Shakya being questioned after she posted a misleading picture on social media

UML leader Sujita Shakya on Thursday posted a post on Twitter – ‘The picture speaks for itself, why has the alliance changed?’ Her status with other questions and pictures has now gone viral on Twitter.

Shakya is a UML’s politburo member and in-charge of the Valley Special Committee and in the 2017 general election she was elected as a proportional representative. She is also the wife of former chief minister of Lumbini Province, UML leader Shankar Pokharel.

The same leader Shakya is being questioned after she posted a misleading picture on social media.

In the photo shared by Shakya, India’s current Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra is seen speaking on the mic. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-US Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoist Centre Chair and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal are sitting nearby on the sofa. UML’s leaders with this latest visit of Kwatra are saying that an eight-party alliance formed recently is because of India’s influence.

In an attempt to confirm the same, Shakya also tried to explain the reason for the change of alliance by keeping the photo.

However, it has been found that the photo used by leader Shakya to question the eight-party alliance is  not clicked recently. It was clicked a a year ago. Similarly, the photo is also cropped from the real photo. UML leader Subash Nembang can also be seen in the real one.

It has also been revealed that she cropped the photo to create confusion on social media. In the full picture, to the left of Kwatra, UML leader Nembang is seen sitting on a sofa. This photo is from when Kwatra was Indian ambassador to Nepal.

After when the Kwatra appointed as the Indian Foreign Secretary, Kwatra was bid farewell from Nepal and this picture belongs of that time.

Therefore, it is confirmed that UML leader Shakya cropped the picture and posted it on social media to create confusion among the people. She has not removed the post from Twitter yet.
