UML picks Subas Nembang as presidential candidate

The CPN (UML) has decided to pick its Vice-Chairperson, Subas Nembang, as the presidential candidate.

A secretariat meeting of the party held at party headquarters, Chyasal, made a decision to this effect, said party Secretary, Yogesh Bhattarai.

Nembang, who has won consecutive elections from Ilam since 2056 BS, has been in the role of Speaker for four times. He was the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly when the Constitution was promulgated in 2072 BS.

Nembang, who has been in the National Assembly for two terms after 2048 BS and in the House of Representatives continuously since 2056 BS, is the leader with the widest parliamentary experience in the UML.

Nembang was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Ilam-2 in the November 20 election.
