UML, RSP Demand Resignation of Minister Jwala Over Balkumari Incident
The main opposition party CPN-UML and the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have jointly demanded the resignation of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala. This demand was emphatically made during today’s session of the House of Representatives.
During the parliamentary proceedings, Mahesh Bartaula, representing CPN-UML, asserted the necessity of Minister Jwala’s resignation and stressed the urgency for decisive actions against him.
Likewise, Rabi Lamichhane, President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), strongly criticized the government’s failure to maintain ethical standards despite the findings of the commission, which squarely implicated Minister Jwala in the tragic Balkumari incident.
“The report unequivocally holds the Minister of Physical Infrastructure responsible. Despite this glaring indictment, neither the minister, the government, nor the prime minister has taken moral responsibility,” stated Lamichhane.
The demand for Minister Jwala’s resignation follows a thorough investigation by a commission into the Balkumari incident, which led to the untimely demise of two youths. The commission’s report squarely placed accountability on Minister Jwala’s shoulders, prompting this decisive call for action from opposition quarters.
