UML’s Godawari Conclave Passes Action Plan on Organizational Clean-up, Decides Continuity to Ruling Coalition

The Godawari conclave of the CPN UML has taken a significant step forward by passing a proposal on organizational clean-up during its recent gathering.

In a momentous decision, the first meeting of the UML general convention representatives’ council, convened at Godawari, Lalitpur, unanimously resolved to observe the year 2081 BS as the year dedicated to party and organizational clean-up.

Rajendra Gautam, the Chief of UML’s Publicity Department, disclosed that leaders from six different teams thoroughly deliberated the reports presented during the meeting on Saturday and reached a conclusive decision on Sunday. The report was endorsed after incorporating the recommendations put forth by the team leaders.

Key suggestions included the reduction of membership fees, ensuring electoral reforms, maintaining transparency in disclosing the income and expenditure of party leaders and cadres, and putting an end to factionalism within the party.

During the proceedings, Party Chair KP Sharma Oli presented a comprehensive political report, while General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel tabled the organization’s report. Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Rimal further elucidated on various contemporary political proposals, presenting a total of 13, as confirmed by Gautam. Additionally, reports from the Central Disciplinary Commission, Central Account Commission, Central Election Commission, and Central Advisory Councils were also submitted.

Attended by 2,454 representatives, the meeting resolutely advocated for the sustainability and effectiveness of the current ruling alliance. According to Deputy General Secretary Rimal, the primary objective of the gathering was to ensure the continuity of the present coalition for the stability and safeguarding of the nation’s interests.
