US Deports 10 More Nepalis Amid Crackdown on Undocumented Immigrants

A US chartered plane carrying 10 Nepali nationals deported on charges of illegal entry and violation of immigration laws arrived in Kathmandu today. The deportation follows the immigration crackdown after Donald Trump assumed office for the second time as US President.
The aircraft landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 10 am, according to airport authorities. With this latest deportation, the total number of Nepalis expelled from the US has reached 27 under the new administration.
Previously, six Nepalis were deported in January, 20 in February, and one in March. Among them, three were sent to Panama, though the reason behind their deportation to Panama remains undisclosed.
In November last year, the US had deported 15 Nepali nationals on a chartered flight. The charter plane that arrived today is set to depart for the US via Albania at 3 pm tomorrow.
The US authorities have announced plans to deport 1,445,549 undocumented immigrants from various countries in the first phase, including 1,365 Nepalis.
