Bhupendra Budha, 33, vice-chair of Putha Uttarganga rural municipality in Rukum East, died in a tragic jeep accident in Bhungkhani, Baglung this morning. The jeep, bearing a government license plate (Ra 1 Jha 200), veered off the road and plummeted 300 meters down a slope, killing Budha, his 61-year-old mother, Gopimaya Budha, and another male passenger on the spot.
According to police inspector Pratap Paudel of the District Police Office, Baglung, the crash was reported by locals who discovered the wreck while collecting fodder. One injured survivor was rushed to Dhaulagiri Hospital for treatment.
Rukum East’s Assistant Chief District Officer, Jeevan Kumar Khadka, confirmed that the victims were traveling from Kathmandu, but it remains unclear how many people were in the vehicle. Identification was made based on the ID card recovered from the scene. Further investigations are ongoing.
