Weather Forecast for October to December 2024: Above-Average Rainfall in Several Provinces, Warmer Temperatures Nationwide
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a weather forecast for the period from October 1 to December 31, 2024. According to the forecast, the south-eastern regions, including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and eastern Lumbini provinces, are expected to receive above-average rainfall.
In contrast, central and northern Karnali and northern Sudurpaschim provinces are predicted to experience below-average rainfall, while the rest of the country will see average precipitation.
Meteorologist Bibhuti Pokharel shared that temperatures across the country are expected to remain above average for both maximum and minimum readings. The central and southern parts of Bagmati, western Madhes, and parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces may experience a significant rise in maximum temperatures, with a 45-55% chance of exceeding normal levels. Other regions, including Koshi, Madhes, and Bagmati provinces, have a 35-45% chance of warmer-than-usual weather.
Rainfall percentages will vary by region, with Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces seeing increased rainfall up to 45-55%. Areas in Karnali and Sudurpaschim, however, are likely to receive lower rainfall in the 35-45% range.
Nationwide, both the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to stay above the seasonal average throughout the period.
