World Autism Awareness Day Observed Globally with Awareness Campaigns

The World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) is being observed worldwide today with various awareness programs aimed at promoting inclusivity and support for individuals with autism. Established by the United Nations in 2007, WAAD is observed annually on April 2 to advocate for the rights and equal participation of autistic individuals in society.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that recognizing and supporting individuals with autism is essential for achieving sustainable development goals and fulfilling global health commitments. In his message on the occasion, he underscored the importance of providing accessible healthcare, education, and employment opportunities for autistic individuals to ensure their full integration into society.
