Yeti Airlines Expands Fleet with Acquisition of Two ATR-72 Aircraft from Nova Air
Yeti Airlines, a prominent player in the aviation industry, has recently completed the purchase of two ATR-72 aircraft from Nova Air in Bangladesh. The strategic move comes on the heels of a new investment infusion, with Asian Life Insurance becoming a major stakeholder with a 49 percent share three months ago.
Sudarshan Bartaula, the head of flight security and spokesperson for Yeti Airlines, confirmed the acquisition and revealed that both aircraft are set to be transported to Kathmandu within the next 10 days. The meticulous process of de-registration in Bangladesh has already commenced, followed by the formal registration process in Nepal.
Currently operating with a fleet of five aircraft, Yeti Airlines is known for its regular flights to popular destinations such as Bhairahawa, Pokhara, Janakpur, Biratnagar, and Bhadrapur utilizing the ATR-72 series aircraft. The addition of the two ATR-72s is expected to bolster the airline’s capacity and enhance its services.
Bartaula outlined the company’s ambitious plans for expansion, stating, “The aircraft has been purchased. Now the process of de-registration in Bangladesh has been taken forward. After that, the registration will be done.” He further emphasized the company’s goal of increasing the fleet size to 10 aircraft by 2024, aligning with their comprehensive business plan for continued flight expansion.
The recent investment by Asian Life Insurance has played a pivotal role in fueling Yeti Airlines’ growth trajectory. With a 49 percent stake in the airline, the insurance company has become a key partner in the strategic decisions and future development of Yeti Airlines.
As the aviation industry in Nepal experiences these exciting developments, Yeti Airlines is poised to strengthen its position and offer enhanced connectivity to passengers across the region.
