Government Approves Action Plan for Civil Aviation Reforms

The government has approved a comprehensive plan of action aimed at implementing reforms across the civil aviation sector. This decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 12. The plan includes specific actions for the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport, as announced by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, at a news conference held at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday.

In addition to the civil aviation reforms, the cabinet made several key appointments and approvals:

  • Ramesh Acharya from Dhading district has been appointed as the General Manager of Food Management and Trading Company Limited.
  • Prakash Prasad Pokharel from Ilam district has been appointed as the General Manager of Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited.

Minister Gurung, who also serves as the government spokesperson, stated that the cabinet has appointed Dr. Rewati Raman Poudel, Dr. Yamuna Ghale, Dr. Reshma Shrestha, and Jagat Bahadur Deuja as members of the Federal Land Utilization Council.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved the participation of Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya in the 12th Conference on South Asian Election Management, which is set to take place from August 13-16 in Bhutan.

In financial matters, the cabinet approved a loan assistance package of USD 110 million from the Asian Development Bank for irrigation projects. Additionally, a panel has been formed under the leadership of a joint secretary at the Finance Ministry to negotiate receiving USD 15 million in grants.

The cabinet also accepted the resignations of two first-class officers from the Civil Service: Indu Bikram Joshi and Komal Prasad Dhamal.
