NSU Protests Alleged Corruption Linked to Cooperative Scam and Giribandhu Tea Estate

The Nepal Student Union (NSU), an affiliate of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC), orchestrated a protest march condemning purported policy-level corruption tied to the cooperative scam and Giribandhu Tea Estate in Jhapa.

Taking to the streets on Sunday afternoon, NSU members congregated in Maitighar, amplifying their voices against the government’s purported involvement in these contentious issues.

Brandishing a multitude of placards, NSU cadres directed their ire towards prominent figures, including Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli. These placards bore pointed messages, calling for accountability and transparency in the wake of alleged malfeasance.

The Nepali Congress, aligning with NSU’s stance, has escalated its resistance within the Parliament, demanding the establishment of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged complicity in fraudulent activities related to cooperatives.
