14 Lives Lost in 24 Hours of Natural Disasters

In the past 24 hours, Nepal has witnessed a series of devastating natural disasters resulting in the loss of 14 lives, with two individuals still missing, according to Nepal Police reports.

In Madi-5, Chitepani Ghumti, tragedy struck when a landslide claimed the life of 13-year-old Ayushma Ranabhat. Her grandmother, Lalmaya Banjara (70), was rescued by emergency responders from the Area Police Office, Shishwa, as they were the only occupants of the affected house during the incident.

Further west in Pokhara-27, Arupata, Hari Sunar (31) tragically lost his 3-year-old son, Anmol, when their two-room house was swept away by another landslide. Hari’s wife, Ritu (27), sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at Gandaki Medical College. Their daughter Anjali (9) was safely rescued.

In Lamjung, Kwholasothar-3, four lives were lost in a landslide. The victims included Rudra Man Gurung (67), his daughter-in-law Pancha Kumari (36), and granddaughters Ichchha (8) and Namrata (4), whose bodies were recovered from the debris by rescue teams from the District Police Office, Lamjung.

Additionally, lightning strikes have proven fatal, with seven casualties reported across Kailali, Jhapa, and Kapilvastu districts. Three fatalities occurred in Kailali, while Jhapa and Kaplivastu each reported two deaths due to lightning strikes.

In Sundar Haraicha, Morang, tragedy struck when sudden flooding claimed the life of Premkala Chaudhary (22) and swept away four members of a family. One person managed to escape, while two remain missing, as reported by the District Police Office, Morang.
