14 Shortlisted for Tribhuvan University’s Vice Chancellor Position

The Recommendation Committee has unveiled the shortlist of fourteen candidates for the prestigious position of Vice Chancellor at Tribhuvan University, the nation’s oldest and most esteemed academic institution.

The announcement, made on Thursday, confirmed the selection of fourteen distinguished individuals from a pool of applicants. Notable among them are Kusum Shakya, Keshar Jung Baral, Govinda Subedi, Chitra Bahadur Budhathoki, Gyanendra Prasad Poudyal, Tankanath Dhamala, Tirtha Raj Khaniya, Narayan Belbase, Prakash Ghimire, Bhojraj Aryal, Mahendra Prasad Sharma, Ram Chandra Basnet, Shiva Lal Bhusal, and Surya Bahadur Thapa.

This significant development was relayed by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, affirming the culmination of an extensive selection process. The vacancy arose following the conclusion of Dharmakant Baskota’s tenure on November 4, 2023.

The Recommendation Committee, instituted by Prime Minister and Tribhuvan University Chancellor Pushpa Kamal Dahal on November 10, 2023, has been instrumental in assessing and shortlisting candidates for this pivotal role. Led by Minister for Education Ashok Kumar Rai, the committee also comprises Ministry secretary Suresh Adhikari and Dr. Chandrakala Ghimire, Chief of TU Central Department of Buddhist Studies.
