15th Nepal-India Bilateral Consultative Group Meeting Concludes with Key Security Agreement

The fifteenth meeting of the Nepal-India Bilateral Consultative Group (BCG) concluded with a significant agreement on mutual security between Nepal and India. This meeting, held in the picturesque city of Pokhara, saw fruitful discussions on a range of security-related issues, including the supply of defense materials, training and capacity building, joint military exercises, visits, adventure activities, cooperation in disaster management, and the exchange of vital information.

Leading the meeting from the Nepali side was Mr. Bhrigu Dhungana, Joint Secretary of the South Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Representing India was Mr. Anurag Srivastava, Joint Secretary of the Northern Division at the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Both delegations included officials from their respective Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Home Affairs, as well as representatives from the Indian and Nepali Army Directorates.

The discussions at the BCG meeting aimed to strengthen and expand the ongoing security cooperation between Nepal and India, fostering greater collaboration in various security-related domains. The Nepal-India Bilateral Consultative Group, established in 2003, serves as a vital institutional mechanism for enhancing security and defense cooperation between the two neighboring nations.
