178 killed in road accidents in Kathmandu Valley in 11 months

One hundred seventy-eight people were killed in a total of 9,683 road accidents in the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts) as of June 15, 2023, of the current fiscal year, 2022/23, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
Similarly, 242 people were seriously injured, and 7,363 sustained minor injuries from that many accidents in the Valley.
Ninety-three of them died in motorcycle and scooter accidents, and 56 were pedestrians. More than half of the deceased (35 men and 43 women) were of the 17-35 age group. Negligence of the drivers, overspeeding, drink-driving, overtaking, bad weather and other technical problems have been blamed for the accidents.
