8 Arrested for Betting and Advertising on Banned Online Betting App ‘1X Bet’

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has apprehended eight individuals for engaging in betting activities and promoting the banned online betting application ‘1X Bet.’ The arrests were made following an intensive operation conducted by the police, who have chosen to withhold the names of the accused at present.

According to police sources, several prominent Nepalese artists are among those detained, highlighting the widespread involvement in this illegal activity. Notably, popular comedian Marichman Shrestha, widely recognized as “Balchi Dhurbe,” is among the arrested individuals.

The investigation carried out by law enforcement has revealed shocking details, suggesting that the apprehended individuals were not only involved in betting but also played a significant role in advertising 1XBet through the popular video-sharing platform, YouTube.

Law enforcement agencies have estimated that the five individuals involved in the illicit business of 1XBet have amassed a staggering sum of Rs 74 crores through their operations.
