Jure landslide survivors to get compensation in cash
The Jure landslide survivors are to get compensation in cash as per their demand.
The Council of Ministers meeting on Tuesday decided that the District Disaster Management Committee would, in coordination with the local-level, distribute compensation based on criteria including the data of victims.
The cabinet decided to instruct the District Disaster Management Committee to distribute Rs 22.466 million deposited in the account of Nepal Bank Limited, Chautara, to the survivors in coordination of the local-level, said Federal Parliament member elected from Sindhupalchowk-1, Madhav Sapkota. The amount was collected from people into a fund meant for the Jure landslide survivors.
It may be noted that landslide occurred in the Jure area of Sindhupalchowk after the Bhotekoshi river was blocked on August 2, 2014. A total of 145 people lost their lives while 153 houses were damaged in the fateful incident.
