Half marathon to be held in Lumbini
On the occasion of the International Sports Day, a half-marathon competition is being organized on April 6 in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha.
The event involving both men and women’s category for the 21 km race is being organised by Madan Bhandari Sports Academy with the main theme of ‘Sports for Peace and Prosperity’.
The 21 km will cover central parts of Lumbini’s Mayadevi temple, Shanti Deep or Peace Lamp and other areas.
The winner of the competition will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 150,000 in both men and women category, Academy President Dhruva Acharya said.
Similarly, Rs 75,000 will be awarded to the second runner-up and Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 to those coming third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Coordinator of the program, Mohan Bahadur Ghale, shared that athletes of any age group from any place in the country can take part in the competition.
The last date of registration for the marathon is April 3.
