Continuous rain leads to collapse of bridge in Dhading, Transportation affected

Vehicular movement has been obstructed at the border of Dhunibensi Municipality and Thakre Rural Municipality in Dhading district along the Prithvi Highway after a motorable bridge over Ganeshkhola(rivulet) caved in this afternoon.

A part of the bridge towards Dhunibensi had collapsed earlier today following continuous rain.

Though one-way traffic was open for some time, the vehicles have completely remained off the road from 4:00 pm after a large section of the bridge was damaged, Information Officer of District Police Office, Dhading, SantuLal Prasad Jaiswal said.

The road project had started the construction of a new bridge in the past next to the existing bridge.

Small vehicles have been sent to their destination by using a makeshift road after the disruption in the highway. However, it could take some more time for the passage of the big vehicles, Jaisawal said.

Likewise, the traffic police have urged motorists to drive along the Hetauda-Kathmandu and Kathmandu-Nuwakot-Galchhi road sections to avoid obstruction.
