Vice President Yadav honours six artists

Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has said the State should pay attention for the protection, preservation and promotion of indigenous culture and traditions of various castes, languages, groups and communities living in hill, mountain and Tarai-Madhes of the country.

At the ‘Nepal Music and Drama National Academy Award-2079 Handover Ceremony’ held at the Lainchaur-based Office of the Vice-President on Tuesday, Yadav stressed the need of preserving indigenous music, lyrics, art and culture.

Vice President Yadav further said the authorities concerned should not remain hesitant to felicitate the artists and creators who passionately devote their time for the protection, preservation and overall development of lyrics, music and other creative genres.

Noting that the Constitution has adopted republic, federalism, equality, inclusiveness, secularism and rule of law, he said, “The country’s constitutional arrangement has created spaces for preserving multiple ethnicities, languages, cultures and traditions and connecting overall geography, groups, religions and cultures. Unity among diversity is our fundamental identify marker and it will strengthen our national unity, integrity and sovereignty”.

On the occasion, Vice President Yadav felicitated senior music composer Bijaya Kumar Shrestha, senior playback singer, lyricist and music composer Ganesh Rasik, drama critic and researcher Prof Dr Ramchandra Pokharel, senior dance director Kulman Nepali, senior folk singer Nabin Kishor Rai and senior artist Bhairab Chhetri.
