Funeral Address: PM’s Emotional Farewell to Wife Sita Dahal, Vows to Serve Nepal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has stated that his wife Sita Dahal passed away peacefully. Prime Minister Prachanda, addressing the funeral gathering held in Baluwatar on Tuesday, mentioned that they did everything within their means to treat Sita’s illness, without relying on any state-provided facilities.

Despite concerns about the possibility of Sita experiencing a painful death in the ICU or on a ventilator, Prime Minister Prachanda remarked that she did not cause suffering to others throughout her life. Sita peacefully chose her own passing. She was admitted to the hospital at 7:30 PM and peacefully left at around 8:30 PM.

Expressing gratitude towards everyone who paid their respects to Sita, Prime Minister Prachanda acknowledged that the honor and tribute bestowed upon her, from the hospital to the party office and from Pashupati Aryaghat to Baluwatar, reflected the people’s justice and respect for her sacrifice and devotion.

“The public expression and kindness witnessed during her passing have made my family and me realize a greater responsibility towards the country and its people,” stated Prachanda, expressing gratitude for the condolences received from government leaders, various sectors, localities, regions, and societal allies during their time of grief. He also shared that the support he received from all sides has inspired him to be more accountable to the nation and its citizens.

The tribute gathering saw the presence of the Vice President, former Vice Presidents, Speaker of the National Assembly, former Prime Ministers, Ministers, Diplomats, as well as individuals from diverse sectors of society.

Sita Dahal passed away at the age of 69 on July 12.
