Kathmandu Metropolis to Launch COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign
The Kathmandu Metropolis has announced plans to initiate a COVID-19 vaccination campaign targeting nine wards, set to begin on August 6 and continue until August 9. The campaign, led by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office health department, aims to provide vaccines to individuals above the age of 12 years.
The decision to conduct this vaccination drive comes after it was discovered that some citizens within the metropolis have not received any doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. To address this concern, the local government is taking proactive measures to ensure broader vaccine coverage.
The vaccination campaign schedule is as follows:
August 6-7: Wards no. 6, 11, 14, 17, and 31 will receive vaccinations.
August 8-9: Wards no. 12, 15, 19, and 32 will be covered under the campaign.
According to Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, the vaccination section chief at the KMC Office, the current vaccination rates in Kathmandu show promising progress. Approximately 90 percent of citizens have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 88 percent having completed the second dose. Additionally, 43 percent of individuals have been inoculated with a third dose, while only six percent have taken advantage of the fourth dose.
The Kathmandu Metropolis is committed to ensuring the well-being of its residents by ramping up efforts to achieve higher vaccination rates and combat the spread of the infectious disease. The community’s cooperation is crucial in successfully executing the vaccination campaign and protecting public health.
Please stay tuned for further updates on this vital initiative as the city works towards a safer and healthier future for all its inhabitants.
