Judicial Council Recommends Six Nominees for SC Justice Positions
In a recent meeting held on Tuesday, the Judicial Council has put forward the names of six candidates for appointment as Supreme Court justices, leaving one position vacant.
The recommended candidates include Lohit Chandra Shah, Madhav Pokharel, Ramesh Raj Bhandari, Shreekanta Paudel, Nityanand Pandey, and Shanti Singh Thapa. However, the appointment process awaits the endorsement of the parliamentary hearing committee.
Despite seven positions being vacant at the apex court, the Council’s recommendation comprises only six names. A source within the Council revealed that an agreement could not be reached on the seventh nominee. The decision marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to fill the judicial vacancies within the Supreme Court.
