Tata Group merging four airline brands under Air India
India’s largest conglomerate, Tata group, is going to integrate the four airline brands- Air India, Vistara, Air India Express, and AirAsia India, under Air India Ltd. In addition to that, it is also considering scrapping the Vistara brand, which is Singapore Airlines’ local affiliate in India.
According to the Indian media, if the Tata Group succeeds in this plan, Air India will be one of the most powerful airlines in the world. It is also mentioned in the news that Tata Group has already made an offer with Singapore Airlines while preparing to merge Vistara into Air India.
Earlier, Tata Group bought the shares of the state-owned Air India. Prior to the acquisition of Air India, Vistara and AirAsia were operated by Tata Group. After buying Air India, Air India Express was also merged with Tata. Thus, now Tata has four airline companies. Air India is preparing for aggressive market expansion.
The company is preparing to order 300 ships in the near future, as mentioned in the news. Currently, Air India, Vistara and Indigo Air are flying regularly from India to Nepal.
