Narayan Prasad Dahal Assumes Leadership Role as Chairman of National Assembly
Narayan Prasad Dahal has officially assumed his duties as the newly elected Chairman of the National Assembly. The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday as Chairman Dahal took the oath of office at Sheetal Niwas before proceeding to Singha Durbar to formally undertake his responsibilities.
Expressing his commitment to effective governance, Chairman Dahal emphasized his intention to lead the Upper House in close coordination with both the ruling and opposition parties. “I will leave no stones unturned to meet the expectations and fulfill my responsibilities in coordination with both the ruling and the opposition parties,” he affirmed. “I will turn challenges into opportunities to achieve the goal.”
The event was marked by the presence of notable figures, including National Assembly Deputy Chairperson Urmila Aryal and General Secretary of the Federal Parliament, Padma Prasad Pandey, who warmly welcomed Chairman Dahal at the Office in Singha Durbar.
The election process witnessed significant support from the ruling coalition, with five parties casting their votes in favor of Chairman Dahal during the National Assembly elections held earlier in the day. The motion proposing Dahal’s appointment garnered 39 votes in favor, while 17 votes were cast against it, solidifying his position as the new leader of the National Assembly.
Chairman Dahal’s assumption of office marks a pivotal moment in Nepal’s parliamentary proceedings, with expectations high for his leadership to navigate the country’s legislative agenda effectively.
