Government Ends Winter Parliament Session
14th Apr 2024
The government has officially announced the prorogation of the winter session of parliament, effective from midnight Sunday. The decision was ratified by President Ram Chandra Poudel, following the government’s recommendation.
The announcement came during a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, where Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire declared the conclusion of the session based on a notice issued by the Office of the President.
Despite the presence of pending bills awaiting endorsement, the government’s move to end the session has stirred concerns among opposition parties. They have raised questions about the timing and the necessity of concluding the session with unresolved legislative matters.
