President Requests Qatari Emir’s Help to Free Nepali Student Held by Hamas

President Ramchandra Paudel on Tuesday sought help from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to facilitate the release of Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student currently held captive by Hamas. Joshi was abducted during an attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7, which resulted in the tragic loss of ten other Nepali students.

The President met with the Emir, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, at the Office of the President and conveyed his deep concern for Joshi’s safety. President Paudel urged the Emir to take proactive steps towards securing Joshi’s release. Emir Al-Thani responded positively, pledging to intensify efforts to address the situation.

Bipin Joshi was among over 49 students from Sudurpaschim University’s faculty of agriculture science in Israel, participating in a ‘Learn and Earn’ program. All students except Joshi were repatriated shortly after the October attack.

Joshi’s family has been actively seeking government intervention for his safe return since his abduction. Further updates will follow as the situation develops.
