Speaker’s Meeting with Chief Whips Ends, No Progress Made!
The meeting led by Speaker Devraj Ghimire with chief whips from different political parties didn’t reach a decision on Sunday. They talked about the government’s plans for the joint session of both Houses on Tuesday and the ongoing parliament disruption.
Nepali Congress Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak repeated his party’s request to create a parliamentary inquiry committee to look into allegations against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. He mentioned that the Prime Minister needs to handle the situation.
On the other hand, CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula disagreed, saying the Nepali Congress’s demand lacks legal grounds. He mentioned that demanding the government’s removal under the guise of a committee is not feasible.
Bartaula also mentioned that the UML is willing to support the government in addressing issues related to cooperative scams and ensuring the safety of depositors’ funds.
