Shree Airlines Expands Fleet with Addition of Q400 Dash 8 Aircraft
Shree Airlines has bolstered its fleet with the acquisition of a new 80-seater De Havilland Canada Q400 Dash 8 aircraft, marking a significant expansion for the Nepali carrier. The aircraft, now bearing the call sign 9N AOM, previously served with Horizon Air and Alaska Air in the United States, known for its robustness and comfort.
According to Shree Airlines, the Q400 Dash 8 is equipped with a powerful 5400-shaft-horsepower PW150A engine from Pratt & Whitney Canada, ensuring reliability and efficiency. A skilled Shree Airlines pilot recently undertook a remarkable multi-stop international delivery flight to bring the aircraft from Portland, Oregon, to its new home at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
The journey spanned 33 hours and included stops in Duluth, Minnesota; Goose Bay, Canada; Keflavík, Iceland; Prague, Czech Republic; Cairo, Egypt; and Muscat, Oman, showcasing the Q400 Dash 8’s capability and endurance over long distances.
With this addition, Shree Airlines expands its fleet to a total of 10 aircraft, comprising models like the CRJ 200/700 and Q400 Dash 8. These aircraft support Shree Airlines’ extensive network, offering essential flight services from Kathmandu to key domestic destinations such as Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Pokhara, and Surkhet.
The introduction of the Q400 Dash 8 underscores Shree Airlines’ commitment to enhancing its service offerings and operational capacity in Nepal and beyond, catering to growing passenger demand with advanced and reliable aircraft technology.
