Earthquake Hits Taplejung District

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded this afternoon with its epicentre around Ankhop in the Taplejung district. The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre in Lainchaur confirmed the tremor, which occurred at 4:04 PM today.

This follows an earlier tremor on July 28, when a 4.1 magnitude earthquake struck with its epicentre near Khejenim, also in the Taplejung district.

Residents in the affected areas reported feeling the ground shake, but there have been no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged people to remain cautious and follow safety protocols.
