In light of recent developments in Bangladesh, Nepal has ramped up vigilance in its border areas. Enhanced security measures have been implemented at international transit points to prevent infiltration and illegal entry of foreign nationals.
Following directives from the Central Security Committee, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force of Nepal have issued a circular to subordinate units, instructing them to strengthen security by increasing personnel as needed and to maintain high vigilance, assessing the evolving situation.
Deputy Inspector General of Police and Nepal Police spokesperson, Dan Bahadur Karki, stated that the security system has been bolstered with additional forces deployed alongside the current security personnel. “Security personnel have been instructed to be alert at airports and entry and exit points, especially in the Tarai and areas bordering neighboring India, and to make security arrangements based on potential risk assessments,” Karki said.
Similarly, Deputy Inspector General Kumar Neupane, spokesperson for the Armed Police Force Nepal, shared that security deployment has been fortified by increasing personnel in the border areas while remaining vigilant against the potential infiltration of individuals from other countries.
These measures are part of Nepal’s proactive approach to maintaining national security and ensuring the safety of its borders during the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh.
