Dengue Ward Set Up at GP Koirala National Respiratory Treatment Centre Amid Rising Cases
A 10-bed dengue ward has been established at the GP Koirala National Respiratory Treatment Centre in Shuklagandaki municipality, according to Dr. Ram Kumar Shrestha, the hospital’s executive director. The decision to set up a separate ward comes in response to the increasing number of dengue patients.
Last year, the region experienced a dengue epidemic, and the hospital is taking proactive measures to manage the situation this year. So far, 385 individuals have been tested for dengue at the hospital, with 96 testing positive. Out of those diagnosed with dengue, 24 patients have already received treatment and returned home.
In parallel, the Damauli Hospital has also seen a rise in the number of individuals seeking dengue tests. Dr. Parivartan Baral, the hospital chief, reported that 25 out of 223 patients tested positive for the virus.
The establishment of the dedicated dengue ward aims to provide focused care and management for dengue patients, ensuring better treatment outcomes and preventing the spread of the disease.
