CT Scan Machine Out of Order at Bheri Hospital Causes Service Disruptions

Patients seeking medical services at Bheri Hospital are facing significant challenges due to a malfunctioning CT scan machine. Radheshyam Tharu from Taratal, Bardiya Madhuwan Municipality, shared his frustration with the situation, stating, “I brought a patient to the hospital, expecting comprehensive health services, but the CT scan machine was completely out of order. As a result, I had to arrange for the CT scan at an external facility.”

Bheri Hospital, located in Banke, serves as a referral center for patients from Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces. The CT scan machine has been non-operational for nearly a month, impacting the hospital’s ability to provide essential diagnostic services.

Hospital Superintendent Dr. Prakash Thapa has acknowledged the issue and assured that efforts are underway to resolve it. Dr. Thapa has briefed Health Secretary Dr. Roshan Pokharel about the situation and requested new medical equipment to address the problem. Secretary Pokharel is currently visiting Nepalgunj but has indicated that there is no immediate prospect of purchasing a new CT scan machine. Instead, he emphasized the need for maintenance of the existing equipment.

The prolonged downtime of the CT scan machine continues to affect patients who rely on Bheri Hospital for critical medical services.
