Woman Killed in Bhaktapur Truck Accident; Protestors Vandalize Vehicle
A tragic accident occurred this afternoon in Gathhaghar, Bhaktapur, where a speeding truck (Na. 6 Ka. 2173) collided with a scooter (Ba. 39 Pa. 8944), resulting in the immediate death of a woman.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, traveling from Kaushaltar towards Gathhaghar, struck the scooter and its rider, who were stopped for a traffic police check. The impact was severe, dragging both the scooter and the rider approximately 100 meters. The body of the woman was severely mutilated, and her identity remains unknown, according to police.
The accident sparked outrage among locals, who vandalized the truck and engaged in stone pelting and arson. The situation escalated, leading to a standstill on the Bhaktapur-Koteswar and Sanothimi-Jadibuti-Pepsicola road sections.
Traffic was eventually restored after additional police forces intervened, managing to control the agitated crowd and clear the area. The police are currently investigating the incident and working to identify the victim.
