Water Supply Minister Pradeep Yadav Promises Quick Repair of Damaged Water Projects in Lalitpur
Minister for Water Supply, Pradeep Yadav, has announced that the repair and maintenance of the Nallu, Basuki, and Devaki water supply projects will be completed within 15 days. Yadav made this statement after inspecting the damaged water sources in Godavari Municipality, Lalitpur, on Tuesday.
Heavy rains on September 27 and 28 caused flooding and landslides that severely damaged the water supply infrastructure in Godavari, leading to disruptions. During the inspection, Yadav was joined by a team including the Director General of the Department of Forests, the Chief of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), and technical experts from his ministry.
The minister emphasized the importance of restoring the water supply swiftly, as access to clean water is a basic right for citizens. He directed officials to coordinate with federal, provincial, and local governments, as well as technical agencies, to resume water services within three days. A report assessing the damage and estimated costs will be prepared soon to initiate repairs.
Yadav also stressed the need for sustainable infrastructure and long-term plans to prevent future disasters. The minister was accompanied by lawmaker Udaya Shumsher Rana, Lalitpur District Coordination Committee Chief Rishidev Phuyal, Godavari Municipality Mayor Gajendra Maharjan, and other local officials during the visit.
