Foreign Minister Rana Deuba Holds Bilateral Talks with Chinese Counterpart Wang Yi in Chengdu

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, currently on an official visit to China, engaged in bilateral discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Chengdu on Friday. The visit, at Wang’s invitation, serves as a preparatory step for the upcoming official visit of Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to China.

During their meeting, the two ministers deliberated on various dimensions of Nepal-China relations, mutual interests, and potential collaborations to be explored during the Prime Minister’s visit. Minister Rana extended an invitation to Minister Wang to visit Nepal and conveyed congratulations on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. She also highlighted the preparations for next year’s 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Minister Rana expressed gratitude for China’s recent decision to waive visa fees for Nepali citizens visiting the country. The discussions encompassed prospective bilateral agreements and development projects, with both sides emphasizing the importance of economic cooperation. Chinese support in Nepal’s economic and social development, as well as future collaboration opportunities, were focal points.

Accompanying Minister Rana were Nepal’s Ambassador to China, Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, Nepal’s Consul General in Chengdu, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister Wang hosted a dinner in honor of Minister Rana and her delegation, where she extended thanks for the hospitality and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Minister Rana is scheduled to return to Nepal on Saturday.
