President and Vice President Extend Greetings on Tamu Lhosar

On the joyous occasion of Tamu Lhosar, President Ramchandra Paudel and Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav extended heartfelt greetings, emphasizing the festival’s role in fostering harmony and cultural values among Nepalis.

In his message, President Paudel wished peace, prosperity, and happiness to all Nepali citizens, both at home and abroad. Highlighting Nepal’s rich multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and multi-cultural heritage, the President stated, “Festivals like Lhosar enhance mutual harmony, tolerance, and fraternity among all Nepalis and strengthen national unity.” He lauded the Gurung community for their contributions to Nepal’s socio-economic progress and their dedication to preserving cultural traditions, while expressing hope for further unity and prosperity in the country.

Tamu Lhosar, celebrated with grandeur by the Gurung community as their New Year, holds special significance in the hilly and mountainous regions of Nepal, with festivities gradually being embraced by other communities as well.

Meanwhile, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav emphasized the cultural and spiritual significance of Tamu Lhosar in his greetings. “The festival symbolizes spiritual awakening and holy practices, reinforcing cultural and religious values,” he said. He also extended wishes for Tolh Lhosar, another New Year festival celebrated on Dec 31 in the mountainous regions of Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Manang, and Jumla districts.

Vice President Yadav highlighted Nepal’s festivals as reflections of its indigenous cultures and customs, urging their integration into tourism promotion to further enrich the nation’s diversity and global appeal.

Both leaders conveyed their hopes that these celebrations bring unity, joy, and progress to the nation.
