Nakhhudol Bridge in Lalitpur Awaits Urgent Repairs
Residents of Nakhhu in Lalitpur district continue to face significant travel disruptions as the Nakhhudol Bridge, damaged during the September 2024 flooding, remains in disrepair. The bridge, which connects Nakhhudol in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14 to Sainbu in Ward No. 15, has been partially functional for over three and a half months, with only two-wheelers permitted to pass using makeshift iron rods.
Locals, including Umesh Thapa, expressed frustration over the prolonged delay in repairs, citing the need to travel an additional 1.5 kilometers to cross the Nakhhu River. The damaged bridge has caused daily hardships, particularly for those relying on the route for their commute and essential services.
Despite assurances from authorities, residents say the poor state of the bridge continues to pose risks and inconvenience.
Daulat Kumar Khatri, Ward Chair of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-25, has confirmed that Rs 6.7 million has been allocated for the bridge’s restoration. He assured residents that repair work would commence soon, although specific timelines have not been provided.
Local residents are hopeful that the promised repairs will restore normalcy and safety to the critical route, emphasizing the urgent need for timely action.
