Nepal’s Constitution Among the Best for Women’s Rights, Says NA Vice-Chair Ghimire

National Assembly Vice-Chair Bimala Ghimire has asserted that Nepal’s Constitution is among the best in the world when it comes to women’s rights.
Despite this, she noted that societal attitudes toward women remain unchanged. “Equality between men and women is not just a political or legal issue but is deeply rooted in values, traditions, and religious culture,” she said.
Addressing governance, Ghimire emphasized the need for strict enforcement of laws to ensure good governance. She also pointed out that while the media highlights major cases of corruption and irregularities, delays and inefficiencies in public service delivery also constitute corruption.
She further stated that a significant gap between people’s representatives and government employees has contributed to rising corruption in the country.
Regarding the increasing trend of Nepali youth seeking opportunities abroad, Ghimire stressed the importance of creating diverse employment opportunities within the country to retain the workforce.
