A Glorious Celebration: 75 Years of Indian Republic at Kathmandu Embassy

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu commemorated the 75th Republic Day of India with a grand celebration that brought together the Indian community in Nepal. The festivities kicked off with the ceremonial unfurling of India’s national flag by Ambassador Naveen Srivastava, setting the tone for a day filled with patriotic fervor and cultural richness.

Ambassador Srivastava extended warm greetings to the Indian Diaspora in Nepal and commenced the proceedings by sharing the joyous occasion with the audience. One of the highlights of the event was the screening of a video featuring the address to the nation by Indian President Droupadi Murmu. President Murmu’s message showcased India’s remarkable achievements across various domains, emphasizing the success of the G20 Summit under India’s Presidency and the Chandrayaan-3 Mission.

In a heartfelt gesture, Ambassador Srivastava took the opportunity to honor the sacrifices made by the country’s brave soldiers. During the celebrations, widows and next of kin of deceased soldiers were felicitated as the Embassy disbursed dues totaling NRs. 5.07 crore and distributed blankets to provide solace and support.

Demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of retired soldiers, the Embassy unveiled the Bhu Puu-2024 magazine. This publication sheds light on the various welfare initiatives of the Government of India designed to benefit ex-servicemen residing in Nepal. Additionally, Ambassador Srivastava presented books to various institutions, with a total value of NRs 19 Lakh, as part of the Embassy’s generous gesture to gift literature to 30 institutions on the momentous occasion of the 75th Republic Day of India.

Adding a vibrant touch to the celebrations, students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu, treated the audience to captivating cultural performances, showcasing the rich heritage and diversity of Indian traditions.

To ensure the widespread dissemination of this joyous event, the celebrations were live-streamed on the Mission’s social media platforms, allowing viewers to participate virtually in the commemoration of India’s 75th Republic Day.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu’s celebration was a testament to the strong bonds shared between the two nations, as well as a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to fostering goodwill and camaraderie with its neighbors.
