All medical services except emergency shutdown to protest manhandling of doctors
All the medical services except emergency and pharmacy at different hospitals and health institutions have been shut down in Makawanpur district to protest manhandling of doctors.
The medical services have been shut down to protest manhandling of Dr Bikas Thapa and Prashant Bidari of Sancho Hospital at Hetauda sub-metropolis-1 on Wednesday. Relatives of Rakesh Pradhan entered the hospital premises on Wednesday and manhandled the doctors, saying Pradhan died due to negligence of doctors in treatment.
Suffering from dengue, Pradhan, 41, of Hetauda-12, died one month ago in course of treatment at Sancho Hospital.
Medical Superintendent at Hetauda Hospital, Dr Ram Chandra Sapkota, said all the health services except emergency and pharmacy have been closed after doctors and health workers launched agitation, citing insecurity.
He shared that Hetauda Hospital has also shut down all services except emergency and pharmacy to protest the incident.
Similarly, other hospitals and health institutions in the district have closed all medical services except emergency. Seventy-eight health workers including doctors of Hetauda Hospital have resigned en masse, citing insecurity, mentioned Sapkota.
