Alliance to save constitution, inclusive democracy: PM Deuba

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said the November 29 elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly would determine the path Nepal would take.

Addressing an election assembly organized by the democratic-left alliance at constituency no 10 of Kathmandu on Friday, NC President Deuba viewed it is the present need to protect the constitution achieved with much struggle. “Country has got constitution with much rigor. It is inclusive and has ensured 33 percent participation of women in state mechanims. Indigenous nationalities have also been guaranteed adequate rights,” PM Deuba reminded.

The ruling alliance and the subsequent electoral alliance were formed with the aim of protecting constitution which has guaranteed rights to all classes and sectors, he reminded, adding that Nepali citizens have the right to change government through the election.

He further recalled that the alliance saved the country from crisis after the UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli arbitrarily dissolved the parliament twice. “We protected democracy after the parliament was dissolved twice,” he stressed.

The only condition of alliance is to prosper the democracy and ensure sustainable peace and rights to citizens. The ruling alliance can last for 10 to 15 years, he believed.

The PM assured that the locals who suffered while widening road would be compensated. “Any land of the individuals encroached by the State must be compensated,” he underscored, saying that the candidate for HoR Rajan KC would ensure it.

On the occasion, NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat seconded the NC President that alliance’s victory was imperative for holistic development of country with democratic values.

Tim has come to concentrate to the development of education, health and energy for country’s prosperity. Trade deficit should be reduced and employments generated within the country.

Similarly, HoR member candidate Rajan KC said he had gone before the people with concrete plans and programmes.
