ANNFSU Protests Ncell Share Manipulation [Photos]

In a fervent display of dissent, members of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), associated with the main opposition party CPN(UML), staged a protest on Tuesday against what they claim to be manipulation in the share and purchase transactions of Ncell, a prominent telecommunications company in Nepal.

The demonstration unfolded in front of the Ncell Office, where ANNFSU members, led by Chairperson Samik Badal, voiced their concerns through slogans and placards. The protesters demanded transparency in the income and expenditure records of Ncell and accused the partner company Axiata of selling shares at an allegedly reduced price to evade taxes.

Slogans such as ‘Make the income and expenditure of Ncell transparent,’ ‘Boycott Ncell,’ ‘Nationalize Ncell,’ ‘Investigate the manipulated shares of Ncell,’ ‘No Tax, No SIM,’ ‘Reject Ncell,’ and ‘Tax Cheating is a crime!’ echoed through the demonstration, emphasizing the students’ call for accountability and fairness in Ncell’s financial dealings.

Chairperson Samik Badal issued a warning, stating that if their demands were not met, the protesters would escalate their actions, potentially even halting the passage of Ncell vehicles. The ANNFSU seeks a thorough investigation into the alleged share manipulation and urges authorities to take action against any wrongdoing.
