Arun Chaudhary’s Detention: MP Sharma Claims Political Design by Prime Minister and Home Minister
Nepali Congress lawmaker Sunil Sharma has accused Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha of orchestrating the arrest of industrialist Arun Chaudhary. Sharma made the claims during a press conference after the NC parliamentary party meeting on Friday.
According to Sharma, the government, led by Dahal, has been systematically targeting industrialists under the guise of combating ‘under the table’ financial transactions. He alleged that the arrests of prominent figures like Min Bahadur Gurung and Arun Chaudhary were part of a deliberate strategy by the Maoist Chairman Dahal and Home Minister Shrestha.
“The design of the arrest is from Maoist Chairman Dahal and Home Minister Shrestha. They arrest big industrialists and households, harass them, and engage in under-the-table deals,” Sharma asserted.
During the parliamentary meeting, MP Sharma disclosed that the Bansbari Leather and Shoes Factory shares were acquired openly through a government-invited free competition. He hinted at a broader conspiracy, suggesting that the arrests were not merely based on legal grounds but rather driven by political motives.
Binod Chaudhary, a prominent industrialist, also raised concerns during the NC parliamentary meeting, drawing attention to Arun Chaudhary’s arrest. Chaudhary claimed that the arrest was a targeted move against the entire industrialist family, indicating a potential political vendetta against the business community.
The accusations and claims made by the Nepali Congress lawmaker have added a new dimension to the ongoing political landscape, raising questions about the government’s motivations behind the arrests of influential industrialists. As the controversy unfolds, there is likely to be increased scrutiny and demand for transparency in the handling of such cases.
